Funny Geography

Robin Hood gets off a boat, without even a horse, near Dover and says "We will be at my father's house by nightfall". Dover to Nottingham is about 160 miles. Furthermore, he goes home via Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall and claims he's home!

I've just been along Hadrian's Wall and the guide book made me laugh. It described the Sycamore tree as having a starring role in RHPoT but:
"Despite having the distinct disadvantage of being a tree, managed to be less wooden than Kevin Costner."

It's fictional geography. Maybe it was meant to represent some other wall that existed in the twelfth century.
