just realized something about the sheriff

the entire movie we see him as this uncompromising evil man. but in the end notice how he said to the witch"for once in my life will you let me have something that is pure"

Sheriff George said to that little girl "i never knew my parents, i had a harsh childhood, i will tell you about it sometime"

its my theory that the witch killed his parents and raised him as a pagan. in the end he was growing tired of her and wanted some semblance of a non pagan lifestyle

but don't get me wrong, i am not saying he had good in him on the contrary i am saying he was evil but he was evil because of the witch

Two points:

1) Pagans are like the members of any other religion, some are good, some are bad, a few are bone evil.

2) Some people don't have to be raised by wicked people to be wicked, they LIKE being bone evil!

Except right after that he tries to rape Marion and would've succeeded if Robin Hood hadn't come through the window to stop him.

Honestly, he wanted to rape her either way, he just wanted to rape her *legally*.

The man liked being evil, he reveled in it!

In the original script it was established that the witch was His mother. She murdered the child of Nottingham and placed him in the house to get her heir into power.
