George's intended raping of Marian is pretty intense

Especially when you're watching this with your family when you're like 15.

Him reaching down to either "free himself" or whatever that was was a bit much.

Yes! I remember my dad popping in the VHS when my cousins were over, and my religious uncle walked in during that scene and was PISSED that his kids were seeing it. My dad sheepishly said, "I forgot about that part."

Taking back IMDB message boards....one ignored Troll at a time.

Sounds like something that could have happened with my relatives.

Though somehow my religious parents always enjoyed this movie.

I guess it would be a different story if there was actual carried out nudity/sex/rape.

I saw this movie when I was 12 and thought even that young that it was a bit contrived. The look Marian gives when Mortianna sticks a pillow under her head; when Nottingham sticks his butt in the air and uses his legs to spread hers apart... Maybe I've just got a dark sense of humor but even that young I thought it was a bit silly for a rape scene

Yes, it really is cartoonish.

Kind of embarrassing/sickening really that an attempted rape was shown so absurdly.

Who the HELL is "George"?

We GET it, you HATE the Star Wars Prequels - MOVE ON.

The Bishop of Hereford identifies the Sheriff as George when he is attempting to wed George and Marian.

I remember my parents recording it on the VCR when it was on television so we could watch it the following day and my mother stopped recording for that scene. She should have been a video technician because it skips flawlessly from the Sheriff pushing her to the floor then saying 'Do you mind Locksley? We've just been married'.

Just watched it on Starz and i just noticed that ā€œlegs apart naked buttā€scene was edited as I clearly remember that scene as i watched it as a 12 yrs old.

reply

They never got ā€˜butt nakedā€™, they were fully clothed the whole time.

The original UK PG version always cut that part out, along with the severed hands at the start and Slaterā€™s ā€˜fuck me!ā€™. Fortunately the modern 12 version restores everything.

reply

Meh, itā€™s all fun and games.

Back in the good old days family fun entertainment included comedy rape scenes.

Since when is the Sherriff of Nottingham's name George?
