I've never quite seen a movie like this before

Every now and again I watch something that just leaves me in awe. I've seen a lot of films in my life, but nothing like this. Strange, unique, bizarre.

It's a strange one, all right: Very beautiful at times and tragic at others. It reminds me of oddball movies of the '70s that seemed to exist in their own time and space, with no connection to anything before or after them.

It's remarkable that some fairly big names were involved in this. I wish more studios would take a chance on provocative, difficult subject matter like this. Once seen, it can never be forgotten. Definitely one for the time capsule.

I totally agree, it's one of those movies you will never forget, and it seems almost as if there is some reason behind the fact that it even got made in the first place. I can't believe how many people I have told about this movie, whenever the end of the world comes up, or the rapture, 2012, etc etc I mention this movie and nobody has every heard of it. wish hollyweird would do more films like this, films that actually are not only entertaining, but really make you THINK.

but no, we get "little fockers 3" instead. (how can Di nero slum like this?)

This movie really makes you have to ponder and contemplate your beliefs and your actions based on those beliefs. I personally loved this movie while my wife hated it. It was the ending that made my wife hate it. she cannot stand a sad ending. to her, the mother and daughter being seperated for all eternity was just too much to handle. I personally found the scene where she killed her daughter way too disturbing. I am not sure why that scene bothered me so much more than the seperation scene. It may be that I am agnostic and, while I was saddened by the thought of them being seperated forever, the thought of allowing any religious belief to influence you in such a way that you would kill your child was horrifying. I often argue with christian friends about this subject as it pertains to abraham and issac. Of course I always get the "faith" argument. but when I ask them to put themeselves in the place of abraham, just how much sense does it make to kill your child based on a voice telling you to do so? Again, the religion influencing somebody to take the life of their child thing.

great movie.

Just watched it for (apparently) at least the 4th time...always forget what an excellent film it is.

That was one strange movie. Just saw it for the first time and I don't really know how to judge it.
