why does everything look present-day? psycho happened in the 50s, so a prequel should be in a time period accordingly, right? everything in this is obviously so 1990.

actually, The first Psycho took place in 1960, how they had the clothes and stuff then I don't get.

Probably just a bad screw up. When was this film set? The back story I mean. With the younger Norman Bates, is it in the fifties before the original or was it set in the institution?
