It's about Norman being let out of the institution again and now he's married to one of the nurses who worked there, Connie. In this film he calls up a radio station which is talking about matricide and he tells the story of what his childhood and his mother were like and how he ended up killing her. The story is mainly told in flashbacks.

Then after he finishes telling the story he tells the radio host that he plans to kill someone else, and then he reveals that that person is his wife, because she's pregnant and he doesn't want to let another psycho loose in the world. So he lures his wife to his mother's house and tries to kill her but she runs away. He catches up to her again but she finally talks him out of killing her and he changes his mind. Then Norman burns the house down saying that he wants to get rid of the past, but he almost burns himself down as well. But then he manages to escape out of the cellar door and they both leave, and he tells Connie that he's finally free at the end.

It's a good film really, you should see it when your DVD gets fixed!
