What with the recent influx of "horror" films and re-makes. Anyone think a new Psycho film would go down well?
It could feature Norman Jnr. But instead of the voice of "mother" being the driving force behind the killings......maybe it could be Norman instructing his son/daughter.
There really was a Psycho 5 planned. It was scrapped when Tony Perkins died. It was going to be called Psych 5: The Ending. It would Perkins play Norman for the last time helping the police find a copycat killer. Norman would pretty much be Hannibal Lector in first/third movies of that trilogy (a seral killer giving advise/clues to catch the new killer) Wonder what would happen if Perkins lived and made the film
Anthony Perkins wrote a screenplay too a couple of years before he died.
If he had lived, it would have worked, but without him... I just don't see it.
But maybe. Just maybe... They could use the orginal motel/house and make a new storyline without Norman/Mother. Maybe an author moves in to the house for inspiration... Or something. Just an idea... :)
I think that idea could have gone really good. I mean, cause it could be nice to see how Norman Bates would do when he was in the same situation as Hannibal Lecter [although Hannibal didn't have a copycat]
It would be interesting to see films based on Robert Bloch's sequels. In the "Psycho 2" Norman Bates, now cured, escapes to wreak vengence on those who imprisoned him and took Mother away. In the mean time a film is being made based on his murders and there's a lot of satirical stuff about the movie industry. In "Psycho House" Norman is dead and the motel destroyed (this could work as "Psycho V") but the house is re-built as a tourist attraction complete with waxwork Mother! Strange things start happening at the house which some attribute to the ghost of either Mother or Norman. Aspects of it are similar to "Bates Motel" - only much much better! I definately think they're worth filming!
