Inconsistencies with the other Psycho movies (Spoilers)

At the end of Psycho III, Sheriff Hunt said to Norman that he's never getting out again and that they would keep him locked up forever. But in this movie, he's clearly out of the mental institution. The reporter in the end also told Norman that Mrs. Spool killed his father but he told the radio station that he died of bee stings and made no mention of any murder. Also, in the original Psycho, Norman told Marion that his mother's boyfriend talked her into building the motel, but in the flashback in this movie, the motel was there before his mother met her new boyfriend. And finally, while this isn't an inconsistency, his wife Connie looks to be at least middle age and seems a bit too old to bear a child. Does anyone have an explanation for these inconsistencies?

Yeah, here's the best explanation that can be given: Screenwriter Joseph Stefano ignored the fact that there had been two sequels since the time he wrote the script for the original film. The only reference to the previous two films is a line something like, "After I got out after the last murders..." Well, I suppose that doesn't explain the inconsistancy about the boyfriend building the motel...

There's been speculation that the inconsistancies exist because Norman was talking on a radio show, so he wouldn't have told the total truth, for fear that they'd discover who was actually speaking.

Or, perhaps it's because, as he made mention of in part II, "the doctors took" all of his memories "away, along with everything else... except those sandwiches!"

For diehards, the inconsistancies are forgivable, but extremely irritating nonetheless.

Maybe it was another boyfriend who convinced her to build the motel. Or maybe all of the inconsistencies are just gaps in Norman's memory. It's definitely possible.

And about what the original poster said about Connie being too old to have a baby, people have babies when they're 40 or even 50 nowadways. You're never too old to have a baby until you're at least 49 or 50. Connie looked younger than that. Maybe 40 or 45, but not too old to have a baby.
