I just now realized something... (Spoiler Warning)

Man, I've seen this film a lot of times and didn't realize this small ironic detail until now.

In the first flashback scene where Norman and the Girl are outside of the office when Norman suggests going into the parlor instead of going up to his room, I came to realize something. The couple that disturbs the two that come out, the woman with the guy in the room down the way happens to be the older woman that Norman ends up killing much later.

Did anyone catch that instantly or did they realize it after multiple showings like I did?

Good eye! I didn't notice that because I was focused on the guy complaining about the backed-up toilet. This is a nice detail, though it also may have been because of limited cast possibilities. I guess Norman's mother was right about that woman.

Thanks. I agree, it may have been due to limited casting. However, it's a great detail to have, as it adds another layer of complexity: the fact that she was at the motel before the night of her demise.

I'm sure it was intentional regardless of the limited casting, and it works out much better for the plot when you see that brief interaction as a bit of a forewarning. This film is much better than most people give it credit for, and that little detail adds to my appreciation of it. I think the fact that this was a cable movie makes it less credible in the eyes of many people, but I think it's a worthy addition to the "Psycho" series.

I wholeheartedly agrees. :D
