I heard that this was a made for cable film, yet I'm hearing of an R rating and nudity. Was it released on video with additional footage not shown on television? I know the network could'nt have shown nudity on television. Could someone clear this up for me???
Thats interesting.. I always wondered that myself.. although.. I actually thought it was made for USA and I hadn't seen it in YEARS, although I did remember enjoying it quite a bit.. and was shocked a bit by the nudity.. and yeah, the rating is ODD.. even for a "cable movie" they generally don't rate cable movies and would thus go unrated.. I kind of wondered whether it did get a LIMITED theatrical release, or whether there was at LEAST a plan to, as the film is, oddly again for a cable movie, presented in WIDESCREEN a real rarity then (1990) for a made for cable film.. I have a feeling it was intended as a theatrical release at some point at least.
I believe movies made for broadcast or cable TV often are submitted to the ratings board even if they are not intended for theatrical release so that they have a rating for the video and DVD release. Parents, movie renters and video stores use these ratings.
What's really interesting, beyond the rating and nudity, is that a film like this replaying on cable, or satellite, or U-verse, on channels like Chill, will awaken films whose boards on imdb have been asleep for so long that posts can go more than a year without a response and come back from the dead.
