Why did Mrs. Bates behave like the way she did? Why was she angry when Norman got attracted to girls when he was a teen- when she got a boyfriend herself?

Maybe nothing caused her to become that way, I don't subscribe much to the theory of people being born bad but there ARE some people who turn out to be completely psychotic nuts with no explanation for it.
shareNo, no more bad movies. This movie was a joke. A few weird sexual innuendos between Norman and his mother is supposed to explain everything? A few shouts at Norman? This was a pathetic investigation of mental illness. This movie should have been no holds barred and unbelievably creepy and the mother should have been portrayed as truly physically, emotionally and sexually abusive. This was just stupid.
shareI think it would be very interesting if they did a movie depicting the childhood of Norma Bates. My best guess as to why she was the way she was is that she was sexually abused as a child.
