Yeah, it's a shame. I think the film had some merit up until the ending, which severely undermined the movie as a whole. There was a tawdry quality to the whole "Don't you have any respect for the dead?" montage and the way it just squandred the tension mentioned between Norman and his wife. Personally, I think more effort could have gone into getting the time-period effects right as well. Granted, it was made for cable, but Psycho is my all time favorite movie and I can appreciate sequels II & III as well, but this last one doesn't do it for me.
I actually like the idea Perkins and Charles Edward Pogue had for this movie, but the studio vetoed it.
