Mom's boyfriend's wonky eye

I just finished re-watching the "PSYCHO" series and while watching part 4, I noticed that Chet (Mother's boyfriend) has this wonky eye. Did the actor have a fake eye or was the character supposed to have a false eye? It was very noticeable in the kitchen scene. It's no big deal---it just seemed so OBVIOUS and it was strange. just an observation...

Massimo Girooti, in his book "Bullets for Bastards" says that Federico Fellini liked this a lot, but the wonky eye bit turned him off. Mores the pity.

Tom Schuster must have had a glass eye as it is so obviously not in synch with his other eye. He died in 2012 so we can't ask him.
