I don't think Bodhi died.
He's somewhere in New Zealand right now (he has made it), while the Keanu Reeves is in prison for obstruction of justice.

shareJames Cameron has said that Bodhi dies at the end.
shareWell, James Cameron has also said Terminator Genesys and Dark Fate were "good movies" at one point in time.
shareBodhi is a replicant

Not a replicant, a Cylon! He was Daniel, the 7th model!
shareThat last scene was set in AUSTRALIA, which is not very far from NZ.
And Swayze died of pancreatic cancer, not lung cancer.

Australia is over 1,300 miles (over 2,100 kilometers) from New Zealand. http://www.mapcrow.info/Distance_between_Sydney_AS_and_Auckland_NZ.html
shareYea, so the big waves carried him the 1300 miles to New zealand. Its not impossible
shareIt's impossible for him to survive on a board from place to place.

Bodhi is shown falling off his board before the wave has broken and turned to white water. He is also seen body surfing the wave after parting with his board. I think he body surfed the wave all the way to shore, bro. The movie left it up to the viewer what happened.
I wonder if that was done intentionally so they could keep the option of a sequel open?
shareThe movie seems to imply that Bodhi died because there was no way he would have survived those waves.
If that is true, it kind of changes the ending. If Utah hadnt tracked Bodhi down, Bodhi still would have gone into those exact same waves and he still would have died, but Utah would still have his badge.
What do you think he did, paddled to New Zealand?
