R2 dvd version - cut or uncut?
Is the UK dvd cut or uncut? Other Seagal movies have usually been heavily cut in UK... How about this one?

One in Play.com? If it's uncut, it's going to be ordered right away. :)

I checked amazon.co.uk -- it says running time 86 minutes. Then I checked Amazon.com -- the region 1 DVD's running time is 91 minutes -- so I guess the UK DVD has been cut.
US & UK running times aernt always the same both R1 & R2 versions of this movie are uncut the UK VHS version was cut by the BBFC but since the old guy in charge passed away & DVD format has arrived cuts have now been waived so if you dont own this Seagal classic go grab a copy Just make sure you get the R1 version of Above the Law though as the R2 version is cut & goes by the title NICO

They're pretty much never the same unless the conversion from NTSC to PAL is a faulty one.

Not correct. The conversion from NTSC to PAL for movies makes the movie 4% shorter (this is even stated on the BBFC website where they point out a movie can be shorter on video than at the cinema but it doesn't mean it's been cut)
Film runs at 24fps - for PAL they just run it at 25fps (yes, this usually means all the sound is slightly higher pitched) so it runs shorter.
For NTSC if they ran it at 30fps everyone would sound like Mickey Mouse so instead they use '3:2 pulldown' which means they repeat every 5th frame... sound is correct pitch but on slow pans you can see a slight judder as the frame repeats.
BluRay isn't in PAL or NTSC so runs at the correct speed (in decent BluRay players anyway) - another advantage apart from the increased resolution.
FWIW, as stated earlier in this thread, Out For Justice was cut on Video in the UK but has had all the cuts waived and is uncut on DVD.
Why are you quoting me and claiming I am not correct when we're in agreement?
What I'm saying is perfectly correct. There is such a thing as a faulty NTSC to PAL conversion and if it's done faulty you get the same runtime as NTSC and you also get ghosting artifacts.
Also PAL certainly does not mean the sound is usually slightly higher pitched. They use pitch correction and have done so for the last couple of decades now. A high pitched PAL audio track is seen as a mistake. Other than that we're in perfect agreement.

Nah, not really, see there is this thing called PAL video and when you convert NTSC video to PAL video you effectively lose running time because PAL has less frames per second than NTSC. The film runs faster. That's what makes the running time different not cuts. The region 2 PAL dvd is uncut at 87 minutes while the region 1 NTSC dvd is uncut at 91 minutes. The films contain the same material but the PAL one is running faster.

Well when Seagal went to Bobby's house after his death to see his widow and have chat about the picture, He hugs her while she is crying and the scene ends their...
But in the raw cut of the film Seagal snaps her neck with a nice breaking neck sound effect... I do not know why this shot is not included on every cut since she deserved it
What dvd would I find this version on of that scene, and other scenes that were cut from the film?
