Why would Richie only get 7 to 10 years in prison?
He was a murderer. Wouldn't he get life without parole? I just don't get that.

shareDepends whether they actually have witnesses willing to testify. Plus they would most likely take into account that he was always under the influence of drugs, which the lawyer would say impair rational thought.
Not to mention his cop killing was related to a crime of passion, the woman being his girlfriend. There probably loads that could be argued by a lawyer for a reduced sentence.

Why exactly do drugs impair rational thought and why would this reduce his sentence? Can you explain this to me?
shareRichie was a vacuum. That much coke doesn't promote rational thought.
shareYes you are correct. He was under the influence of drugs so he wasn't fully aware of his actions. A good lawyer could use that to reduce his sentence. I want to tell you this. Others say that he was more evil than the Joker but I disagree. The Joker was more evil than Richie because the Joker had it all planned out whereas Richie did everything under the influence of drugs which doesn't promote rational thought.

But what about the woman in the car? It wasn't just Boddy. What about his girlfriend?
