Vada's ring was blue towards the end of the movie?

anybody know why?

reply

Well Mrs. Sennett had it before she gave it to Vada, and by that time it was blue. I think it reflected the fact that she was sad.

Doesn't Vada get annoyed during the movie that it never changes colors, and then it changed to blue at the end? I think it was supposed to be seen as a sign from Thomas J., a little ray of hope that things will be OK. :o)

reply

Well based on her reaction when she lost it in the woods, I wouldn't think it didn't change colors. You might be thinking of when Thomas J mentioned that it never changed colors. Still, that doesn't prove anything considering Vada's response to him.

I think it means she's come to term with things. She was always kind of confused with matters concerning life/death, but after unfortunately having to experience it first hand, she accepted it. Remember she also mentions that chicken bone isn't in her throath any more?

no he found her ring on the ground right before he got stung by the bees.

Mr. Shue, let me be your Britney

It was her ring, the day Thomas got stung he went to get it back for her to retrieve it. Remember he picked it up right before he got stung, when they found him dead he still had the ring in his hand or near him.

It's because Thomas J was the the last person to have the ring. He went back to find it right after Vada said she would consider being with him if she didn't get to marry Mr. Bixler. So he went back to the woods to find it and he was so happy that she had told him that, he turned the ring blue. His mom said he had it on him when he died. It's a sign of comfort knowing that he had died happy because of what Vada said.

Wouldn't getting stung by 21,348 bees have made him sad and therefore make the ring go dark again?

That could be true. About him dying happy because of what Vada said. And a sign that he's okay in Heaven. I have a book about ADCs. (After Death Communications.) About people after they've died, letting their surviving loved ones that they're okay.

If I remember correctly, she was upset at losing it because the ring used to be her mother's. When it turned blue at the end, it was a sign that everything was going to be OK because it had always stayed black.

It's a mood ring, so blue represents sadness.
