why didn't Thomas J just run from the bees?

so the first time around, they just run away from the bees and into the water where they won't follow. Why didn't Thomas J do that the second time? if something works, you stick with it. Instead he gets the brilliant idea of trying to fend him off with his arms (of which there are literally dozens) and we all know how that works out for him.

I am sorry I don't mean to be rude, but you would think he would just run away into the water again.

reply

By the time he caught sight of them, they already started stinging him. Once that happened, I think he reacted quickly and just couldn't get away.

reply

Well I really blamed that reaction on him losing his glasses. I don't think he could have found his way to the water if he was as blind as he seemed without his glasses.

reply

He didn't notice them until he was already being stung, he lost his glasses... he probably DID try to run but might not have made it far. I'm always relieved they didn't have a scene showing someone finding his poor little body.

reply

No time to. Never even noticed the bees until they were on top of him. By then, it was too late. He was so busy examining the mood ring he had just found, he was distracted by it. And I agree, Shiny, that would have been too much. He should have simply searched the ring, and not messed with the hive at all. (Remember, he kicked at it.)

reply

It must have been hard when that officer informed Harry of Thomas's passing.

reply

Yeah.......because it's so easy to run when you can't see where you are going because your glasses dropped...he probably would have run into a tree. Geesh.

If you can see with your glasses you're not legally blind. The definition of being legally blind is not being able to see to a certain point after your glasses are on. Even if you literally cannot see anything but blackness without glasses if glasses can correct your vision well enough you are not legally blind. But if vision is only a little bad and glasses do nothing for you, then you can be legally blind. Sorry I just had to say this, since a lot of people don't understand what legally blind means.
