question about mood ring from the movie

where can i buy a mood ring like the 1 vada wears in the movie? i've only seen the ones that are band rings, i want to find an oval shaped 1 like vada's. anyone know what stores sell them?

my cat will rule the world!

reply

I'm not sure I seen all kinds in stores.

What does the color mean on the ring? In the movie Vada gets the ring back from Thomas J mom and its blue.

I got an oval shaped on when I was little (I still have it somewhere) from the gift shop in the Natural History Museum in Manhattan. Why not check ebay?

reply

You may have already figured this out, because you posted, like, 3 months ago, but the blue is supposed to mean happiness.

reply

Kinda strange, but I have my mother's mood ring who died when I was a little girl...

reply

In the movie it was supposed to be a sign that Thomos Jay was in Heaven and that he was fine and her mother was taking care of him.

it might mean happiness, but i had one the same as in the film as a child, and it was always blue. it only changed when i had not put it on for a few days, and then it was black!!! or if i put it in the sun heat for a while!!

Check on Amazon. You can find them anywhere. They're a dime a dozen.

Slater: Jessie, these pills are dangerous
Jessie: Yeah, well so is geometry.

reply

They sell them at the 7-11 here.

Incidentally, mood rings were not invented until 1975, three years after this movie takes place, so in reality, she could not have had one in 1972. What a major *beep* up on the filmmakers parts!

reply

Huh, '75..... I would have guessed earlier, I was 8 or 9 then and these were EVERYWHERE in the 70's. So apparently if your fact is correct they had some major marketing behind them. I must have had 3 or 4 just like the one in the movie in the 70's.

Don't count on hell ever running out of room

reply

I am pretty sure they existed before I graduated from high school in 1971

reply

Maybe ebay? :)
