*spoiler alert* Funeral

Is it just me or could Thomas J's parents had the funeral somewhere other then Vada's father's funeral palor ..Their kid was best friends with her!! :/

reply

Well I'm guessing that is the reason why they had the funeral there, they knew Vada's father personally and trusted him to do the best job.

Also, I was thinking it seemed like kind of a small town. There might not have been another funeral home in close enough proximity.

reply

Besides, I was always impressed with the setup. Hopefully Harry eventually moved the funeral home to a regular building in later years.

reply

I agree with what everyone else said. Besides, having the funeral elsewhere wouldn't have suddenly made her ok with her best friend dying. Dealing with death is hard period, but for your 11 year old son? Absolutely you'd want to go someplace that you know is going to do a good job and make things easier for you.

reply

I think it gave them comfort to have someone they trusted handling the funeral

I grew up n a small southern town. We have two funeral homes. When my Dad passed away 9 years ago we chose the funeral home based on our personal relationship with the owner and his family. When we made the arrangements they came out to talk with us and told us how honored and humbled they were that they could do this for our family. I imagine Harry felt the same way when it came to taking care of Thomas Jays services.

Having grown up in a town of 350, or so, there was only one funeral home. Therefore, it's distincly possible that that was the only funeral home in town.

I felt so bad for Mr. & Mrs. Sennett. They not only lost their son, he was their one and only.

reply

I honestly would've loved to give Thomas's parents a lot of sympathy for losing their one and only kid.
