burned locals?

does anyone know more about this?

"The Man in the Moon" was filmed in Natchitoches, Louisiana, the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Territory. According to a Natchitoches resident, the film makers had a difficult time finding extras for the movie, as locals had been burned by the producers of Steel Magnolias (1989) (also filmed in Natchitoches) only three years prior.

Anyone can edit that section, and that sounds like second hand information based on the alleged statement of "a resident." You might ask on the SM board, but I've never heard anything like that about SM.

Well, this is a trivia item for Steel Magnolias about the same thing, but it's still very vague:

"Is shot in the small Louisiana town of Natchitoches. Reportedly, the filmmakers placed such a great strain on the locals, particularly those who volunteered to be extras, that several years later, when the film The Man in the Moon (1991) was shot in the same town, extras were difficult to find, as so many townspeople had been burned by the Steel Magnolias crew."

So who knows what the "great strain" was, maybe overly demanding shooting schedules for the extras?
