You came up with this theory based on the fact that there is a (slight, if any IMO) resemblance between the two actors?
I mean yeah, sometimes there is stuff in movies that isn't spelled out for us or is kind of a muted plot line, but come on. There is NOTHING in the movie to even remotely point to this possibility. Yes, it is a huge shot in the dark. If anything I would think maaaaybe the conversation between Marie and (arg, I forget the mom's name) could have implied that Marie is having a slight pang of regret that she didn't stick with Matt...afterall her husband was dead so she would have avoided the widower's life had she not changed dance partners. But even that is such a fleeting part of the movie that never had any other substance to back it up...but your theory is way out there and not supported at all.
