The next 'Grand Canyon'?

I'm still waiting for the next film to knock the wind out of me like this one did.
Sorry, "Crash" wasn't it.
Hopefully soon.

I didn't see "Short Cuts" , maybe I should?

I think "Cast Away" was another movie with a similar emotional level, as far as deepness. I did enjoy that.

Short Cuts is a multi-thread story of lives in the LA area, but it is essentially cynical, angry and kind of broad where it is satirical. Nothing nealy as touching or thoughtful as Grand Canyon. Other Kasdan films like Accidental Tourist and The Big Chill are emotionally closer. If you are primarily interested in Los Angeles flavor, perhaps "The Player" or "Laurel Canyon."

I don't think there will be a movie like this one again, especially nowdays when Hollywood is entangled in a web of idiotic movies for 3 year old kids. What is Kasdan doing these days?

reply

If you were now 3 years old, I doubt you would be saying today's Hollywood movies (i.e. Finding Nemo, Cars, Surf's Up, Over The Hedge) are idiotic.

its okay--white people's potrayal of race relations stinks all the time!!!
have a black producer and a white writer and a black director then "they" may get it right. do white people know they're anemic . . . I guess not. because whate people continue to make these retarted tretises about race relations.

Magnolia didn't affect me at all, unlike this movie.
