This rating is a mystery to me. I think it's at least 1 point too low. I've recommended this film to many people who all found it extremely enjoyable and surprisingly underrated. Good story, acting and leaves you with a good feeling. (unlike Crash)...any thoughts on why so many have rated it so low?

The only reason for justifying the low rating could be due to the movie's long running time and pace. Plus the movie falls low on plot.

Yeah, I don't understand the 6.9 rating it is now. One of my favorite movies I rewatch every 3-4 years. I've had it rated as an 8 for a long time but after this rewatch, I bumped it up to a 9.
There's lots of movies that get a lot of things right but there's an extra something special about Grand Canyon.
The low rating makes no sense.
