What happened to Idgie?

To anybody who read the book, what happened to Idgie after Ruth died? What did she do with the rest of her life? Like the movie, is Idgie still alive at the end of the story?

I read the book but it was over 20 years ago and I've since forgotten 90 percent of it; but I do remember that Idgie was alive and well into the modern era.

In the book, Idgie is selling honey at a roadside stand in her old age. She and Ninny are two different people in the book for sure, as she is alive in 1987 and Ninny has died.
