That is not true in the final scene of the movie prior to the final reunion of the groups original members the children are watching BET, the VJ (Donnie Simpson) introduces a video by "Flash and the Five Horsemen". At that point JT turns the TV off. That my friend is what happened to the Five Horsemen

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
The five horsemen were seen again performing as backup for Flash at the end of the movie. Flash and the five horsemen were on BET performing. This is when JT turns off the tv and says "this isn't real music! Heartbeats, front and center!!!!!!!"
