Anybody notice how everyone working there (in Southern California, no less)making the shoes was white, including an old guy Steve addresses as Juan?

Pfffft! Yeah, right....

I mean, I've always loved this version of Father of the Bride, but given their movies, I think Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyer must have a real sense of being white, liberal, and/or wealthy and not a sense of much else.

Oh, oops. There was the Asian Howard Weinstein(!?), wasn't there? Still, my point stands.

I was really surprised that they were making shoes in the USA. Everyone knows that almost everything is made in China or Japan or Malaysia, or somewhere overseas.

It's true. If they were manufacturing in the US, the shoes would be really expensive. Maybe they were though. In movie-world that is.

At the time this movie was made you could still buy Chuck Tyler Converse that were made in the US. They still might be today, I'm not sure.

I didn't see everyone there, but actually he did bump into a black lady at the beginning of the scene.
