In-laws from Denmark get a freebie

I didn't quite catch that. Father of the bride George actually pays for the air fare of in-law relatives coming from Denmark? What logic lies behind that? I mean George isn't quite a millionaire and the wedding alone cost a pretty penny. One might argue about loving his only daugter and the importance of the event, but somehow this evades logic.

I'm not sure, but I think it's tradition for the bride's father/parents to finance the wedding completely, so this would also mean flying over relatives, but it seems a little extreme?

Maybe he was trying to make up for the whole 'Bryan's dad's wallet into the pool' scenario.

I know this is old, but no, it is not tradition for the bride's parents to pay travel for the groom's guests. Guests pay for their own travel. There is no rule of etiquette that dictates anybody has to pay for anybody's travel, in fact.

That was one of the things that drove me crazy about this movie.

I'm new, please be kind!
