basketball game

painful to watch. shouldn't george & annie play ping-pong?

"It's for the pain. Rarely touch the stuff...Can I have another?"

reply

They...could've, but I doubt that it would have been better than the basketball. :/ I mean, I love ping-pong, but I also LOVE the basketball scene. Perfect! :}

reply

my uncle was a ping-pong champ. i would lose that match!!?

Perhaps if she knew better, she'd get somebody to keep an eye on the game...

Nuts, we have the same taste in viewing material! I think the basketball thing was to show that Annie was a daddy's girl/tomboy growing up.

reply

nice!

basketball games with my dad were great growing up---until i gave him bloody nose on a post move. no more basketball after that or i couldn't play him; as it was just too sad for me b/c he was 'weaker' for the first time.

Aw nuts, yeah seeing our parents age is really saddening. But that's great that you got to spend that time with him growing up.

I don't get it

shouldn't george & annie play ping-pong?

If they had them playing ping-pong, it would've been an indoor scene, and there wouldn't have been snow flurries to aptly end the scene.

Am taking a break from watching the film right now.

So far the Basketball game has been the best scene. Shows the relationship as it was before the trip to Europe.

Ping-pong ? Just not the same !

Ok edit ... finally finished watching ... the other pretty good scene was the middle of the night basketball bonding. Disappointed in the film as a whole.

reply

Disappointed? How come?

reply

Too frantic. Too much Martin Short who could not be understood even when he was supposed to be understood. Enough implausibility (bride's parents do not pay for overseas visitors) that even this non picky watcher was put off.

I did like Part II however. Calmer . More Steve Martin less Short.

I did like the father-daughter scenes in part one.
