Barbra Streisand

How often do they mention Barbra Streisand in this movie and is it good?

Lorelai:The government will close that day.Barbra Streisand will give her final concert... again.

reply

don't remember anything about barbra, but this is on my list as one of
the funniest movies ever.

in the top 10. no doubt.

also in the list to give you my idea of what's funny:

midnight run
dr strangelove
return of the pink panther (the one where the inspector general is the bad guy)
wedding crashers

reply

You went from Dr. Strangelove to Wedding Crashers? That's a pretty severe drop in quality. It's almost insulting. What happened?

reply

I just watched the movie again and don't recall any direct Barbara Streisand references. But I believe it was one of her songs playing on the new car's CD player right up until the crash with the bus.

reply

No wonder the car crashed. :P

reply

Yeah,Albert Brooks is driving in the car, listening to a song by Barbra Sreisand and somebody is shouting:"Do we have to listen to this" :-)
Shortly after that the car crashed.
Love this movie!!

I don't know where the Streisand thing comes from. He was listening to West Side Story. Barbara Streisand was not in that, as far as I can recall.

reply

She was not in the movie,it was only the song that she sang-from West Side Story, that's right.

reply

When he picked up the new Beemer, he opened some CDs to try out the CD player and was listening to The Broadway Album. "Something's Coming" was playing, the CD cases slid off the seat, and Daniel was trying to pick them up when he looked up and smashed into the bus.

reply

Nope.

“Do we all have to listen to that?”

On blowing the punchline, 10 for 10.

reply

I don't think they mention her. I'm glad. I would miss part of the movie because I would have to run to the bathroom to throw up. Any sighting or mention of her name causes me to do that.

I haven't seen it in a while, but I could have sworn they were mad about having to listen to him singing I feel Pretty.

reply

Clearly that's not the case, and your use of that particular hyperbole is unjustifiably insulting to Barbara Streisand. You're not a fan. Leave it at that. Anything more would suggest she wronged you, a family member of yours, or society, in general. I'm not aware of any such transgressions on Barbara Streisand's part.
