Feels like Jim Carrey should have been in this.

I got serious "Bruce Almighty" vibes from this film.

Not quite sure how you mean that. But keep in mind, Bruce Almighty was 12 years later. Casting Jim Carrey for that would have been three years pre-Ace Ventura (1994), with a fairly young looking JC.

Ironically, Albert Brooks's movie The Muse (1999) makes a joke about suggesting casting Jim Carrey for a movie, as if to comment on the tendency, even then, for people to suggest Jim Carrey for a various roles.

I just think that he and Carry share a similar kind of taste in humour.

Well, that and J.C. does well in a lot of roles where things are that sunny, bright cheeriness (The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty)

Carrey was just an up n comer at the time this film was released.

Its that man again!!

Albert Brooks and Jim Carey do NOT have similar kind of taste in humor. That's ridiculous.

I disagree. I love Jim Carrey, but this movie was not for him. And yeah, he would have been too young at the time to suit the role anyway. Not sure Albert Brooks was perfect for it either though. I was only 10 when I first watched this movie and there was already something about him that felt off. I think it was hard to have the freshness and innocence this role required when the person playing it actually wrote it himself.

Oh thank god he wasn't in this movie. I can't stand Jim Carrey, he would have ruined this for me. By the way, loved this movie.
