Mitch Yankee Stadium Story

What a great story that was about seeing baseball live. I live near Southampton in the UK and can't imagine what it must be like to see an NFL, MLB or NBA game live. It must be mind blowing. That's one of my ambitions.

It is Crystal actually relating the story of his own first baseball game.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

You aren't gonna believe this but, I saw a Young Billy Chrystel, late 60s, on The Mike Douglas Show, tell the same story to Mike and Mickey Mantel, and had the program Mickey signed.

Mickey couldn't believe it got all choked up

Mongo like candy!

Unfortunately, old Yankee Stadium is gone. I used to love going to games there. It was amazing looking out on that field and thinking, Babe Ruth played there...Lou Gehrig gave his farewell speech there...Joe DiMaggio, Micky Mantle, Phil Rizzuto, Whitey Ford, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra...they all played there.

A guy I made friends with while working in Australia came to NYC back in 2002 while on his vacation. He had a list of things he wanted to do, and one of them was to go to a Yankees game, eat a hot dog, and have the "American Experience". It was a gorgeous summer day, and as we came up the ramp and into the stands, he stopped dead and went, "WOW"! He just stood there with this goofy grin on his face, taking in the view, and said, "It's just like what that guy said in City Slickers!"

We ate hot dogs, drank beer, saw a huge fight in the stands right near us, the Yankees won in an exciting finish, and we got him a fitted Yankees cap as a memento. He later said the cap was the best souvenir from his trip. People back in Australia would always ask him where he got it, and he'd get to tell them the story of going to Yankee Stadium.
