I was about to make the same posting, but you've read my mind. I'm not calling this movie Casablanca, but seriously, how could anyone give it a low rating?

shareIMDb is what's up w/ the low rating. The fact that this film sits only 0.3 points higher than the travesty that is Chuck & Larry (and 0.2 lower than Will Ferrell's cloying manchiuld act Elf) is downright criminal--but a crime not uncommon on this site.

Its a comedy that isn't really funny.. A 6.6 is too high except most of the ratings on this site are skewed.

Probably because of the people who give The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, 300, and Sin City a 10/10. These people probably give this and other good movies a 1.

shareIt's probably got something to do with the demographics of the 34000 voters (not huge) using the meter. The movie was really popular...23 years ago and most of that big audience may not necessarily use IMDB and rate it.
I've always liked the movie, but don't think it's faultless by any means and give it 7/10.
rotten tomatoes gave a 90%, which is better than some movies in the top 250
