Darn That Bean !!!! (spoiler!!!)

If Bean would have just played the game instead of having a chip on his shoulder fighting the seargent all the time he could have gotten some sweet deals for all the guys but he said to the cpl. he wasn't pushing him , he just wasn't backing down .Too bad, maybe Sweet would have lived had Bean just cooperated.

Duh...if Bean does whatever the srg. says... then everybody is happy...then no plot..no suspense...no CONFLICT....NO STORY!!! BOOOOOOOOORRINNG!!! We would ALL like happy endings, but if that were the case, every movie would end the same, and BE the same.

P.S. "Bean" is not real....just a character in a movie...so, "damn him"? No..don't damn him...he's part of the plot...part of the story. Part of the movie. Duuuuhh....

i dont think he had a chip on his shoulder, i think he was just living with guilt.during his youth he was a real punk, running around causing trouble and what not, and his father tried to keep him on the right track but couldnt control his rebelious attitude. after his father passed away, it toughed him up. kind of like "i didnt show my dad respect, and now he's dead... so why should i respect anyone else!?"

McKinney was an ass-wipe and had issues with his own son, and was sort of like Bean in alot of ways, and i think by not letting McKinney get hanged in court, was Bean's way of letting go of the angst. true, McKinney basicly murdered Sweat Bread and he was wrong, but it was obvious that McKinney wasnt in his right mind.

even though they hated each other, Bean and McKinney, based upon thier history amongst their son/father, understood each other and had a make-shift bond. its really the most important element of the story: no matter what mistakes youve made in life, your enemy has made thier very own. at the end of the day, be human.

oh as a disclaimer, im not clearing McKinney for killing Sweet Bread, i was just talking of the bond the main characters had. you can have a bond with someone and it doesnt mean you two are friends

Boy, loungelizard really gave it to him in the other post. He is right, but chill a bit.
Agree with all you said coop82. Remember when McKinney is saying to Bean at the end something like "Where did we go wrong John?" Wasn't his own son named John? Seems like he had some issues with his wife and son in particular and Bean was surely having some serious father/son guilt going on.
