Ferris should have been Rob (football taker)

it would have made so much more sense had Ferris been the same character as Rob. Dough's crew would talk about how Ferris picked with people younger than him and started trouble just for fun (just like Rob did when they were younger) at his older age. this sounds just like Rob. remember when Dough was a kid and he said "I wish i could kill that M_____F____"? it would have been ironic and telling that he actually did kill him if he was indeed Ferris to begin with.

this is one change i would make in the movie if i was the director/writer). anybody else feel the same?

I can see that. Like a full circle thing.

No.

This whole thread is a waste of time. Ferris Buehler's Day Out was a good film but that was a comedy. Boyz N The Hood had NO parallels to that film. Boyz was a serious and unflinching look at what it's like to grow up in South LA (used to be called South Central back then).

I used to live in South LA and if you guys who carried this thread lived over there for one week, you wouldn't even post something like this. That movie was a Hollywood-made film but it was one of the REALEST films I've EVER seen in my life.

reply

Maybe it's because they rarely mention his name and no one gives a *beep* about him lol.

The cap-wearing shotgun shooter kind of looked like Rob, I thought. His eyes are very similar. But it isn't him, is it?

Real life ain't as dope as the movies.

reply

It's not.

A bunch of bloods killed Ricky. The group in the beginning who took the football were Crips

Perhaps not, but probably related.

Actually, I always thought that Ferris looked more like the other gangbanger who had a heart and retrieved Ricky's fotball from Rob. That's just me though.

reply

I totally agree with this change and would have extended the heat between Dough and Ferris wonderfully.

reply

Jsn, I agree. That subtle change wouldn't ruin the movie at all or call for a different plot.

reply

I don't think the change is needed. I always got the impression that the earlier set who hassled them and took the football were not long for this world. Having the same guy pop up later as Doughboy's nemesis would feel a little contrived to me, particularly in a movie where we already have the same cop from Tre's younger years popping up.

well it aint like they moved to a different neighborhood. its not impractical to have the same people in the same hood for 7-8 years. i didnt say it was NEEDED tho. the movie is still great regardless. it was just a thought.

I'm still stuck on that full blown rant about Ferris Beuller lol.

Bump.
