shareI don't think he actually he got 7 years for stealing candy. If you really watch the film and studied it like I have for the better part of the last 24 years or just are a casual viewer of the film, you will know that Dough was a thug from the womb so to speak and such a tired hood stereotype.
He was in jail that long (7 years) because of other crimes he did. Plus Dough lived in the Crenshaw district of the film or at least that's where most of the film was taped, and I know because I used to live over there. And that district of LA is Rolling 20s, 40, and 60s Crips neighborhood and that gang puts in work over there. LAPD knows about them n***** for real dude!
So Dough put in work for one of them gangs and that's part of the reason his behind was in jail for so long. I know the LAPD is hard on Blacks, shoot they damn near HATE Blacks and Latinos from that part of town, but even they wouldn't lock up a Black or Latino teenager 7 years for stealing candy.
Dough was drinking 40s in front of a USC college recruiter, fighting his own brother like he was some rival gang member near the part where Ricky got killed, and after Ricky got killed he actually got out of his car to finish killing two of the dudes who had something to do with his brother's death. Dough didn't care about the LAPD he just knew he had to kill them dudes for retribution and/or payback purposes. I got more too but you get the point.
I'm sorry for the long post but I just LOVE this film to death. Beverly Hills Cop and Boyz n The Hood are my top 2 favorite films of all time.
I would have to include 48 hours to that list.
shareDough was in and out of jail several times before the welcome home party (as told by his mom). I think Dough was maybe 18 or 19 so he couldn't have been in the "pen" for too long since he was so young. When I first saw this movie as a kid I thought he did 7 years for stealing candy too lol.
