29th Street is a great film. If you like Goodfellas, Godfather, Bronx Tale, Raging Bull and Donnie Brasco, you will love 29th Street. It's amazing know one saw it when it was released in theaters. The dvd has an excellent behind the scenes feature.
I loved it, too, and was so excited for the DVD release. It has all of the heart and humor of Moonstruck. An awesome, funny, feel-good little-known movie (I discovered it on television in the '90s). Anthony La Paglia is great, Danny Aiello is even greater and Lainie Kazan once again plays an ethnic mother (she can do it all--Italian, Greek, Jewish) to perfection.
Terrific , just watched it for the first time. Wonderful story , great acting , perfect casting and the payoff is completely satisfactory. Sorry I missed it in 1991. Time to look for the DVD !
it really is a great movie. there are so many subtle connections that i make with it, coming from an italian family.
i consider it to have the same effect on italians as my big fat greek wedding did for greek families.
it really is a shame that this movie didn't get more press because it deserves much more praise than it ever received. danny aiello is absolutely awesome in it, and the rest of the cast is great...
Absolutely a must every year at Christmas. My whole family has copies of this film. The bickering Pesces are hilarious. Maybe a bit over the top, but still very believable! Reminds me of my family years ago. Every actor is supurb. Very under rated film.
And besides, what the hell do you care?! You`re gonna win that lottery and then you can hang out on the street corner and be a jerkoff for the rest of your life!
How do you know I`m gonna win that lottery? And even if I do it`s not included in my plans to hang out on some street corner!
