The later seasons were bad...

Not the worst, but close!

I agree. I feel like any episode with the title card in black ink instead of red is not as good as the earlier seasons. Does anyone know what happened? Tommy's voice sounds weird, and the plots just felt very flat and boring.

the series went to hell after they brought Kimi into the show

reply

What happened is after they completed the first 65 episodes (which contained 127 stories - all but 3 episodes contained 2 individual stories), the entire writing staff left. Everyone. Not just the staff, the freelance writers as well.

Paul Germain (who was not only the head writer but also the show runner and voice director)

Joe Ansolabehere

Steve Viksten

Peter Gaffney

Jonathan Greenberg

Rachel Lipman

Craig Bartlett (he'd actually left after the first season, although he wrote or co-wrote one story in season 2)

Holly Huckins

Doria Biddle

Samuel S Williams

Glenn Eichler

Michael Ferris

Michael Kramer

Andy Houts (RIP)

Lisa Latham

And others.

Everybody. I think the only exception is Barbara Slade, who wrote two stories freelance during the classics, co-wrote exactly one episode after the hiatus.

When you lose your entire writing staff, which includes the show runner/head writer, who also happens to be your voice director...the show tends to change, you know?

reply

Yeah it's funny how many people say the show was bad "after Dil" or "after Kimi" when it really went bad after the hiatus and was brought back in '97, which predates Dil lol.

reply

The post-hiatus episodes were watchable, but they couldn't hold a candle to the original 65. When Dill came on, though, they signed the show's death warrant. He literally brought NOTHING to the show.
