William Ragsdale was what ultimately killed this show!

While the show was indeed quirky and enjoyable filled with (mostly) likable characters, there was one aspect that I firmly believed ruined this show and ultimately caused it to sink the way it did. The idea that William Ragasale (A.K.A. the geeky, annoying Charley Brewster from "Fright Night") would be something of a "ladies man" attracting virtually every woman who crossed his path. I mean, come on! Maureen McCormick??? Lita Ford??? Michelle Phillips??? REALLY?!?!?!? I mean he wasn't a very good-looking guy and never was. He wasn't even cute, nor even mildly attractive. Just very geeky-looking with his horrendous mullet. You could even see that all the actresses who had to play his love interest were just cringing over having to act like they were so instantly madly in love with him. You could sort of see them saying to themselves, "AS IF!!". And, let us not ignore the big elephant in the room. No matter what he does, William Ragsdale will always and forever take a major backseat to his far more handsome and much sexier "Fright Night" costar Chris Sarandon. I'm pretty sure he had to listen to all his female costars swooning and gushing about how in love with Chris Sarandon they all were at one point or another. I'm even willing to bet that all the actresses who played his love interests on the show in order to make it believable had Chris on the brain. I even remember when he was on MTV's Rock and Jock he was basically the "odd man out" and was all by himself most of the time while all the big name celebs were busy schmoozing with each other. If anything, Hank Azaria was the reason all us ladies tuned in to "Herman's Head" every week as he was truly the best thing about this show. In fact, I'm pretty certain every actress on the set, including the ones who played Herman's love interests, were all really going after hunky-Hank. What do you all think???

Yeardley Smith went for Hank.

Heddy slept with Herman so he's obviously got something. But seriously, Herman really is a nice guy who does try and do the right thing.

I found his friend 'annoying' when I was little and first watching the show. Now I realize he is the creep who will A) try and spike your drink b) try and drug you at your apartment c) all of the above

Give me Herman.

^This. Thank you.

There was something wrong with the OP. I’m watching Fright Night again, right now. Of COURSE Chris Sarandon is more attractive than William. The sexier the antagonist, the more effective the dramatic tension. Satan was the sexiest thing in Milton’s Paradise Lost. What does that have to do with Herman’s freaking Head?? Ragsdale appeared on Broadway. Sarandon? Not so much.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard scrawn-meat Hank Azaria called “a hunk.” If the best he could do IRL was Helen Hunt . . . .
More punk than hunk.

I loved this show and I think Ragsdale is talented.

Interestingly, both he and Amanda Bearse were in the fledgling Fox network sitcoms at the same time: he, in Herman, and she in another fave of mine, Married . . . With Children, as Marcy.

I don't know, OP, I've always found William Ragsdale to be awfully cute. In this, the *Fright Night* movies, and *Mannequin 2.* He had a lovely smile, nice wavy hair, and smiling eyes and was often friendly, sensitive, and outgoing.

Me too.
