Yep, now every time I see those episodes I keep thinking 'THAT'S Elliot Stabler'.

Same here! I had the same reaction the first time I saw Wet Hot American Summer too, Stabler's humping a fridge at camp?!? Lol

I, too, was surprised that Meloni could do comedy so well.

I first noticed this when he turned up in an episode of Scrubs. I didn't think the performance would work in comedy, given what I knew of SVU. But, he really impressed me with how well he can handle comedy.

After that, I came across that he had also done Spike. That really surprised me not just because of the comedy aspect but at how well he disguises his voice in that part.
