PG?? SHOULD BE RATED R!!

holy cow this movie is horrific and ive seen some scary as *beep* movies. far scarier than texas chainsaw massacre and the exorcist combined!!

scarier than return to oz, the dark crystal, the transformation scene in adventures of Pinocchio. this movie scared the daylights out of me as a kid and as a (man-child) adult this is still as horrifying now as it was then.

"im beautiful your not" - me
"you're* " - you

I agree totally .

This movie does in no way deserve an R rating. At most, it might warrant a PG-13 rating for frightening images.

Kids didn't used to be such pussies. I grew up on movies like 'Gremlins' and 'The Goonies' and 'The Temple of Doom'. We did OK.

You must be my child movie twin!

The part where the fat kid starts shaking like he's having an epileptic fit whilst the surrounding witches point and laugh at him is truly messed-up. And then he starts to spout rodent features. Man, how did I not get nightmares from that scene as a kid?

Still, for me the most disturbing kids' film from that era is 'Young Sherlock Holmes' especially when the pastries come alive and start attacking Watson. 'Return to Oz' is also quite nightmarish with the screaming detachable heads, the Wheelies, and worst of all, the Nome King turning into a giant Claymation rock monster.

Some scenes are pretty awful but I didn't think it was that scary, certainly not to be mentioned with The Exorcist! The platform where I watched it rated it 13+ which is interesting as the book is aimed at children closer to 8 or 9.

The film was originally PG and based on some of the imagery in the film (namely the Grand High Witch after her transformation), I would guess this movie would warrant a PG-13 rating at most in today's film market.

It's a horror movie, disturbing and grotesque. The scene with the painting is the stuff of nightmares, and makes any other horror film look like chickenshit.

YEAH...THIS ONE LOOMS SCARY AS SHIT IN MY HEAD FROM CHILDHOOD.
