The Grand High Witch gyrating as Bruno comes onto the platform

A highly sexualised moment which is never even a subtext in the novel.

Deep breathing verging on panting, suggestive movements, a look of lust. It's quite a moment, and one that is never even hinted at elsewhere in the film.

Hmm, I think that she smells him, and wanted to puke, but wanted to keep her disguise and act as normal as possible.

Lol. I was always confused by the weird sexual vibe of this scene, as well.

Welcome to Fright Night....for real. 

I noticed this too. Looked like she was fondling herself for a moment.

This was totally intended. Her character getting very sexually excited was to indicate how sick and twisted her character is. She was turned on by the idea of turning Bruno and millions of kids into mouses.

reply

I just watched that part and it has always creeped me out a lot. Like she's just so turned on by what's going to happen she can't hold it in anymore.

Angelica Huston looked hot in that scene where she's gyrating. That was always my favorite moment of hers in this film. She was hot in this movie.

Funny thing killin' a man. You take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have.

reply

This movie and as Morticia, definitely hot!

reply

Yeah, she was really hot in The Adams Family films. I usually don't go for the dark and gothic look, but she was very beautiful back in the day. Too bad she's old and not so attractive anymore, but time wears us all down. If I could go back in time to when she did The Witches, I would've loved to have spent a night in heaven with her. Jack Nicholson is a lucky man that he got to be with her back in the '70s and '80s when she was young and beautiful. Too bad he ruined that by cheating on her often. No accounting for taste, I suppose.

I'm on a bus on a psychedelic trip reading murder books and trying to stay hip.

She was showing how much of a sadist she was. She was getting excited about what's going to happen to Bruno.

reply

Seems like a common theme in Nicolas Roeg movies... like in Don't Look Now when the blind psychic woman is mashing her breasts while having a vision.
