one of the funniest scenes

i love the scene at the beginning when joyce is serving coffee and hovers around, while everybody is becoming impatient for him to leave... he has great moments throughout the movie!

Was that when the squire and the doctor first look at the book and the map?

yep! brilliant.

Why has Edward Woodward got four 'd's' in his name?
Because otherwise he'd be Ewar Woowar.

I like the scene where the pirates atack the cabin, and Red says afterwards, "I'm sorry captain I got one in the leg." Smollet tells him to not be sorry, he was defending himself. Red just says, "This rifle shoots low is the problem. I was aiming at his head."

And it's a great moment when he comes to Squire Trelawney's rescue, shooting dead the pirate sword-fighting with the Squire. The squire is wholly ungrateful, and berates Redruth for an "unnecessary waste of ammunition"....and Redruth humbly apologizes! Great stuff. The movie is full of these really nice touches that embellish the novel while--at the same time--not changing it out of all recognition.
