QUESTION ABOUT THE END...(SPOILER)

Did Terry die at the end? I know he got hit in the leg and shoulder, but that gut shot from Frankie may have done him in...he didn't exactly get up and walk out at the end....just curious to see how others interpreted it.

It's left ambiguous, and we're really not meant to "interpret" or conclude anything.

He took 3 shots, which is some pretty hefty carnage to endure, but they were all in non-vital areas.

Personally, I think that Noonan survived, and was forced to take a long hard look at himself while rearranging his life in the processs.

Amazing film, one of my favorites. Cheers.

I agree. Cause he was still standing when they did the 'fade to black'.
I liked it too, but mostly because they had some GREAT actors in there: Penn, Harris and John Riley?

I wouldn't call Penn a great actor by any stretch of the imagination. He's serviceable but pretty wooden overall although not quite keanu reaves style.

While the ending is one of those "could be either/or" types, I thought it was pretty apparent that he did, in fact, die.

I can't remember with 100% certainty, but I seem to remember a conversation he had with Kate that somewhat foreshadowed his eventual death. Though, its been a while since I watched it. So I could be wrong about that one.

However, after the shoot-out he's not standing but on the floor, propped up against the back of the bar. He seems to be staring into space and (Once again going from memory) just before the fade to black, it looked like he had stopped breathing.

Long story short, I thought he died.
