that night he goes to Iris's house drunk and cant even walk. he just goes upstairs and puts his head under running water and he is magically sober again and able to do a reading lesson? i am thinking NO. sobering up isnt like flipping a switch.

I agree. I always find it hilarious how Hollywood treats drunk people. Especially that whole 'coffee' bit. Coffee DOES NOT sober one up! Only time does that!

I didn't get the impression that Stanley was an alcoholic. He drank a beer occasionally, and got upset & got bombed once with her.
