Is Stanley's dad supposed to be of Greek origin?

Coz his name is Leonides Cox and he has an accent. Anyone know?

I'm sure the father was Greek or Italian. It is very reminiscent of Umberto D. by Vitorio De Sica. The father part, that is. It may be a nod to that sentiment as well.

My guess is also Greek or Italian. The surname "Cox" was probably shortened from a longer, more ethnic name like Cocciorini .....

Well, Leonidas is a Greek name, definitely not Italian.
