The Street Fight

I've heard a lot of complaints about the street fight and yeah I'll admit it's kind of silly but does anyone think it would have been better if they had walked across the street to Mickey's Gym and had the fight in the ring? I understand that if they had decided to fight in an actual boxing match that would have played into Don King's hands and he would have made money off of both of them but if they fought in the ring at Mick's gym it would still at least seem like an actual boxing match without benefiting Don King. Rocky definitely had the keys to the place in his pocket.

reply

yeah that would of been better and than Rocky would Get flashbacks of the fight at the beginning of Rocky

reply

Exactly and it wouldn't have made Rocky look like some punk who gets into fights in the ally. And if they did the fight in Micky's Gym there could have been someone acting as the referee, Paulie could have been Rocky's cornerman and I'm sure Tommy Gunn had someone who could have been his cornerman. They could have actually put on Boxing gloves and at the end Rocky knocks Tommy out for a count of 10 just like in a regular boxing match (they still could have used the sequence where Rocky is down and Mickey tells him to get up and fight). It could have panned out exactly like an actual boxing match only it's not an actual boxing match. And all Rocky would have to change is "my ring's outside" to "my ring's across the street" and it would have been just as epic.

"Hey yo, You wanna fight me in the ring I got a ring."

Love it.

Rocky V isn't a bad film, I just have a few issues that could have easily been fixed.

reply

Yeah, Rocky V has gotten better as the movies they make get worse.

reply

Hahaha!

Rocky V really isn't that bad. I have some issues but its still a strong film. The only one that is truly bad is Rocky IV.

reply

I actually love
Rocky V you can say its probably my favourite cause it’s so street, so underrated, and so real compared to the other ones. Because it’s so overshadowed it’s become so appreciated.

I actually love 4th too.
4th is my actual favourite followed by 5th and 3rd.

01. Rocky (1976) 10/10
02. Rocky II 10/10
03. Rocky V 8.5/10
04. Rocky III 8.5/10
05. Rocky Balboa 8/10
06. Rocky IV 1/10

Never saw Creed or Creed II

reply

Naw, this chart is garbage if you give the 4th a 1. One thing is not to like it but to give such a low rating is unacceptable. I think the first two are great but I get bored of them. The others might not be considered classics but I have more fun with them. I acknowledge they’re all good. I saw Balboa was fun but I wouldnt rate it in the series or as one of the greats.

I also havent seen the creeds. I actually never felt comfortable with the story switching from Rocky and preferred It like in V where Ive always felt it shouldve ended. If they are going to make a successor it shouldve been like in V his son and Stallone’s son who sadly passed away. Any other way I wouldnt accept it.

Rocky was fighting him out of immediate anger, not for the sport. He had no interest in putting on gloves and shorts just to put Tommy in his place.

reply

I get why he fought him, it just would have been more true to the character and the franchise if they did put Boxing Gloves on and went over to Mickey's Gym. It also would have been a better indicator of who was the better boxer (since there was no ref Tommy was able to cheap shot him all over the place).

reply

Except Rocky didn't care who was the better boxer between them in this case. It's the same as when Clubber taunted him and Adrian at the press conference. Rocky was all for giving Clubber a fight in the ring when he wanted one, but when aiming at Adrian, Rocky was ready to charge him, no gloves or ring involved.

reply

That would’ve been awesome!
