So tommy Gunn fought 22 fighters over the course of a year.......even for a movie this was laughable .... Almost 2 fights every month....seems like he would have made a great deal of money w that many fights.
"You do that bah you better do it right. BAAAAAAHHHHHH"
Also, since the story line of Tommy Gunn was supposed to be a parallel to Mike Tyson's story (becoming the youngest champion in history, firing his old trainer and hooking up with a Don King-type character) it's all the more likely he was supposed to be fighting with the same frequency Tyson did in his early days.
I assumed the timeframe was closer to two years. They're watching Christmas Vacation on TV towards the end of the movie, which came out in 1989. Of course, the Rocky timeframes are all messed up and they require a bit of suspension of disbelief. That said, something another poster said is true: Mike Tyson, in his early days, used to fight every couple of months, if not more frequently.
I agree. I always thought that Rocky V takes place over the course of a couple of years. If Tommy was super active it's possible he could've had that many fights in two years against mostly low level opposition.
Mike Tyson had 15 fights in one year, back in the 70s George Foreman had 5 fights in one night.. People believe boxers make a ton of money, but the truth is most don't..
