I would have kicked Pauls ass!

I don't know why they were still friends after he lost all of their money.

I'm Blade brown, the Dopest, illest, hypest brotha, on the block!

reply

They were family. Paulie is Rocky's best friend. For some reason, Rocko is very forgiving. That's probably one reason we like him so much. Btw, enjoying the Bounce reverse marathon?

reply

That's also why he gets played for a fool alot.

reply

I'm with you on that one. Brother-in-law/best friend or not I wouldn't be friends with some drunken degenerate who cost me my entire fortune and forced me to move my family into a crappy neighborhood all because he couldn't be bothered to actually read the document he was signing.

On that note, can someone explain to me how Paulie even had the authority to sign over power-of-attorney? Adrain I can understand but since when does one's brother-in-law have control over one's finances?

reply

Rocky signed the document not paulie. The accountant sent him the document along with a letter say7ng it was a tax extension and thats what paulie told rocky it was.

reply

Really? I haven't seen Rocky V in quite a while I could've sworn Paulie was responsible. If that's the case than Rocky was a grade-A moron. If he even bothered to so much as skim thru the document it'd be obvious to anyone with half a brain that it wasn't a tax extension. I understand Rocky was in the middle of training for Drago but taking 2 minutes to read thru something just to be on the safe side would've been sound logic. It's now harder for me to feel sorry for Rocky.

reply

Why wouldn't rocky have lawyers handling any type of paperwork..Paulie shouldn't have had his meathooks on anything related to finances or taxes. It's rocky fault letting that punch drunk near his business

reply

there was a deleted scene where Paulie tries to commit suicide because of what he did.

reply

Honestly I found that whole scene confusing, cause I couldn't understand what Paulie was saying...
Can somebody give me a full run down of what Paulie did?.

reply

Its simple. Paulie regretted what he had done. So he tries to kill himself with the gun or microwave. Then Rocky comes back after the gym sequence and sees Paulie going to shoot himself. Rocky knocks him out of it. And Paulie says " I still got my place in the neighborhood " you can see that specific line in the trailer.

reply

Yeah and in the original script Rocky says "look, I was a lucky pug who caught a break for a few years, you know, I think I was worth more when I had nothing." They should have kept that scene in.

reply

where did you find the original script? can you give a link?

it was good to see thunderlips "give him one" in rocky 3, the paulie role is unbearable, the way he treats his sister, the outbursts he gets, i have to change the channel whenever he appears, and it's weird how he's holding a bottle being drunk in every movie from 1976 to the 21st century and didn't end up with liver failure, this at times feel like an episode of a soap opera and throughout pretty much like a tv-movie, that's strange considering sylvester stallone had become a major movie star by this time, here he is in a fifth movie in a franchise that appears as a tv movie and completely bashed by critics and fans of the rocky movie series, it makes you think he didn't want to let go of the role, and the content of this movie feels like a complete mash up of things, and like one more match at the end would be too much so they just throw in a street brawl, there is so much repeated by this point, comebacks, adrian not wanting him to fight, loss of property... imagine if there had been yet another sequel right after this "rocky 6" in the early 1990s or something and not the decade and a half off before the comeback with "rocky balboa" (2006), i mean what would that have looked like, this "rocky v" really gives you the impression they have gone as long they can with rocky at this point.

"I don't know why they were still friends after he lost all of their money."

Because Paulie didn't have anything to do with losing their money. You were duped by Adrian's irrational ranting. Instead you should have paid attention to the real explanation of what happened, which was given by Rocky's attorney shortly after Adrian's hysterical and nonsensical rant. Rocky signed the papers that gave his accountant power of attorney. The accountant told Paulie, "Here's a tax extension form [which was, of course, a lie], can you have Rocky sign it?" And Paulie said, "Sure," and handed it to Rocky to sign. Paulie was nothing but the messenger.
