Never understood this...

If the Robocop original, which is obviously a successfully functional android, is upright, then why do they need to continue re-vamping or upping the ante on different models? I realize that it's probably for creativity and comedic sake but still wondered that? Why wouldn't Detroit or OCP just build a bunch or Murphy's?

reply

Hopefully there are not a bunch of dead cops lying around to make more Robocops.

Robocop is a cyborg, not an android. The first film explicitly says so.

The second movie explains why the other Robocop wannabes are committing suicide.

I think the film, early on mind you, portrays that even with Alex Murphy RoboCop in service for just over a year, crime in Detroit has become so bad that OCP is forced to make their successor even more intimidating and with a whole lot more firepower, and as the Old Man revealed in the later quarter of the film, it would be responsible for the protection of the 'New Detroit' (Delta City).

Because bigger is better

Did we stop making cars after the first one?

Plus, cops were on strike.
